Honestly, if you had of told me a year ago that one day I’d be writing my own blog, I’d probably have choked on my food. Not a very good outcome. Yet here I am…taking waaayyyy too long to write my first post (googles ‘how to write your first blog post’)…and yet, still no idea.
I guess I should open up a little, talk about my feelings and stuff. Meh. How about some fun facts first?
I’m Danielle. I am a mum of two crazy cute kidlets, and wife to an incredibly supportive man. We call Melbourne home. I love coffee, homemade muesli, winter sun, summer sun and sleep-ins. Sleep-ins are my favourite.
I grew up on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, finished up at school and pursued photography a couple of years later. I studied a Diploma of Photography in Melbourne, back in the glorious days of film and chemistry. I put it on hold for a year to travel and seek new adventures, and that was that. My husband who works in film and TV, became the family photographer, so there was no need for me to be behind camera anymore. I loved taking iPhone snaps and Instagramming, until a little over 12 months ago I picked up hubby’s humble lil’ Fujifilm X-T1 and quickly fell in love with photography all over again.
I spent the last year re-learning everything I could. I took lots of courses, surrounded myself with an amazing community of photographers and found the most incredibly talented mentor. And, I practised like a crazy lady.
It’s been a journey, full of dreaming, planning, hard work and a lot of self-doubt. This business, this passion, this way of storytelling, is an extension of me. I’ve poured my heart and soul into it. And that’s where the self-doubt comes in. It’s so scary. But I’m so proud of where it’s brought me today, and proud of what I do; tell your stories, full of honesty and heart. And I am so excited to begin!
Let’s do this!!!
